Might sound silly, but - what does K9 stand for? And 101? I'm Estonian, so I really wouldn't know, our terms and codes are different ;)

ohh gotcha...K9 is just short for "canine." and the 101 is the US Army 101st Airborne Division. :)

He was. I couldn't get my eyes or camera off him the whole time... I love these big dogs. And this one was even more special. A real soldier.

Yep. He's a GS alright :)
I wouldn't quite know his true purpose, but at the event where I took these photos the military had been called in to serve as additional judges and Game Masters - it was one of our annual big battle, part roleplay-part re-enactment events, and so the soldiers and the dog kept an eye on the masses and and made sure everything was safe and everybody would play by the rules. Plus, I think the younger ones got a chance to play, too.
